FAQS

Can we meet you and then how do we book you?

Absolutely! I almost insist on it. I like to make sure we are a good fit and get to know my couples before shooting one of their most important days. I am based in Croydon, Victoria where you are welcome to either pop into my studio for a cuppa and a chat or sometimes its more convenient to meet up at one of my favourite local spots. If you are overseas or interstate we can set up a Skype date instead.

I will then send you a photography agreement for you to read over and sign. A $500 non- refundable retainer is used to secure your date with the final balance due within one week of your wedding date.

Is it just you taking photos on the day?

Yes! If there is a bit of driving involved I like to work with an assistant (usually my husband Ben) but they are usually just there to carry my bags, park the car and make sure I don’t leave lens caps behind and generally let me work more efficiently if timings are tight. The more people holding cameras on the day, the more likely you are to notice us! The best way for me to capture candid moments amoungst you and your guests is to go as un-noticed as possible.

However, if you have things that may overlap during the day, have more than 150 guests or would just prefer a second shooter I can provide you with a quote. I work with a number of lovely experienced wedding photographers.

Can you stay for more/less time than what is specified in your packages?

Of course! Just let me know and I can prepare a quote for you.

If you decide on the day itself  that you’d like to keep me there a little longer, the rate is $400 per hour.

Do you edit all the photos?

I certainly do. What you see here is what you will get. I will make minor adjustments to every image; colour corrections and tweaks, black and white conversions, straightening and cropping. The editing process is just as much part of my service as the shooting aspect; it takes just as long if not longer. Having said that, I don't go overboard with edits and prefer a clean, classic, film style process. The last thing I want is for you to look at your photos in a few years time and feel they are "dated" by trendy editing processes.

Do you travel?

Heck yes! My passport is current and I love the opportunity to see new places and photograph in different light. I will charge a small travel fee if your wedding is more than 100kms from Croydon and if your wedding is interstate I will generally charge for flights and two nights accommodation. But depending on where and when I can be negotiable on this. Combining my work with travel is my greatest joy so whether its in rural Victoria, interstate or on the other side of the world, let me know and we can work something out.

How long before I get to see my photos?

I will email you a few preview shots within the two weeks following your wedding so that you can share them with eager family and friends (and even print off a few thankyous!). But you can expect the whole collection uploaded to your online gallery in about 6-8 weeks and a USB on your doorstep shortly after.

How do we receive our images?

I deliver an online gallery as well as a USB packaged beautifully in a handcrafted leather wallet. The online gallery makes sharing with family and friends really easy and is particularly great if you have family and friends overseas or interstate that would love to see your photos. The USB contains both high resolution (for print) and web quality un-watermarked Jpegs for you to print and share to your hearts content.

Can I provide you with a list of shots I want?

By all means but, from experience, the most beautiful candid and creative moments come when my couples allow me space to see the things unfold around me. While its tempting to consider me merely there to capture the minute to minute details of the event, my job is to capture your bigger story; to create the images that will transport you back to that day and make you remember how you felt. The magic happens in the moments in between. There are so many wonderful moments on a wedding day, to stage them and pose them is taking away from the story that is already there.

If there are certain people or details that you really want captured on the day, just let me know.

The only list I do ask for is a list of family photos.

Do you need a meal on the day?

Yes please! If I am booked for more than an hour into your reception it would be greatly appreciated if you could squeeze in some catering for me and my assistant. Everyone works better with a little fuel and capturing a wedding takes a heap of energy!

What gear do you use?

I use two Canon bodies with a series of prime lenses and I generally only use flash to capture the action on the dancefloor; this allows me to capture the stunning quality of natural light, whether its sunshine or tealight- allowing you to look back through your photos and think “wow that’s exactly how the day looked and felt!”

How long do you keep my photos for?

I still have copies of the first ever wedding I shot back in 2007 so I will generally never delete them just in case. Having said that, when you get your USB, I highly recommend making a few copies and storing one at home and one a family members house.

Are you insured?

Absolutely,  I have $20,000,000 public liability insurance.

Can you recommend a florist/videographer/celebrant/makeup artist?

Yep! Ive been doing this for nearly ten years and have met some very talented and passionate people. Let me know and I can give you some names!

Do you do albums/prints?

I do! I believe in printing your photos and having something tangible to flick through or put on the wall. Let me know if this is something you love the idea of too and we can chat about it when we meet and I can bring some sample albums.
